  9. funding as revealed by the Irangate hearings
  10. 1986-87. In 1989 US president Bush announced
  11. an agreement with Congress to provide $41
  12. million in `nonlethal' aid to the Contras
  13. until Feb 1990. The Sandinista government was
  14. defeated by the National Opposition Union, a
  15. US-backed coalition, in the Feb 1990
